The resort of Turracher Höhe lies on the border of Steirmark and Carinthia. A tranquil, lake is surrounded by wooded slopes to oneside and piste to the other. The lake is home to a few quality hotels, which rely on customers returning as their quality is unique. The snow came on 13th October, 2009 and has stayed since. Local people have skied every Sunday on one slope since that date. It is unique as it retains the snow, but also because the one through road remains open all year. It also benefits from healing waters and people travel from miles to drink of the mountain water from cups and water fountains by the lake. Due to unique rock formations caused by the fold mountains eroding rare minerals are deposited in the water giving the healing qualities. The final word I would use to descibe Turracher Hohe is quiet. In the depths of the night the quiet is unprecedented and the only sound that can be heard is the tinkling of the huge stars in the clear night air.
